Job Announcement

The City of Chandler Community Services Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Recreation Aide or Recreation Assistant for our Adaptive Recreation(part-time, temporary, non-benefited). This position serves at the discretion of the department director. The position requires working under 19 hours per week at various Chandler facilities, depending on the programs offered. Assignments are based on employee availability and interests.

Current City of Chandler employees may only hold one position and are not eligible for additional part-time or secondary positions within the City of Chandler.

The City of Chandler Adaptive Recreation Division offers programs for individuals with disabilities. We engage participants in sports, games, community outings, music, cooking, art, and more.

Who we are looking for

Our team members are passionate about teamwork, collaboration, and supporting individuals with disabilities. We are seeking Recreation Assistants and Recreation Aides to plan, organize, and lead activities for our year-round programming, including summer camps. Ideal candidates are energetic, patient, and creative, with the ability to use independent judgment during programs. Employees must provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively with participants, parents, care providers, co-workers, and supervisors.

Recreation Aide - $18.15 per hour

Minimum qualifications

• Some High School; no experience required; and

• A First Aid/CPR Certification is required within 90 days of employment; or

• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Recreation Assistant - $21.56 per hour

Minimum qualifications

• Some High School; and

• 1 year of experience in a recreation environment; and

• A First Aid/CPR Certification is required within 90 days of employment; and

• A valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record; or

• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Desired qualifications

• Experience with youth, teens, or adults with disabilities

The City of Chandler will conduct a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and a driving record check as a condition of employment. An offer of employment is contingent upon acceptable results. All applicants hired will be required to be fingerprinted with successful results as a condition of continued employment.
