The Department of Agriculture/Weights & Measures is recruiting for Agricultural/Standards Officers who interpret, implement and enforce agricultural and weights and measures laws, regulations and policies.

The Agriculture/Weights & Measures Department conducts regulatory programs and provides related services to protect the agriculture industry, businesses, and consumers in the County through the fair and equitable application and enforcement of laws and regulations. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Pre-Employment Process: Incumbents must pass a background investigation, which includes fingerprinting, work history verification, as well as a job-related physical exam and drug screening.

Physical Requirements: Incumbents must sit, stand, bend, squat, kneel, twist and stoop. Requires grasping and fine manipulation in both hands. Frequent lifting and carrying of up to 50 pounds. Occasional lifting and carrying of objects up to 70 pounds and pushing/pulling of a loaded cart weighing up to 130 pounds.

Travel/License: Travel throughout the County is required. At the time of hire, a valid California Class C driver's license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced and maintained for the individual providing the transportation.

Sponsorship: San Bernardino County is unable to consider to candidates who require Visa Sponsorship at this time or in the future. Candidates must be able to present their legal right to work in the United States at the time of employment.

Minimum Requirements

Candidates must possess both the following EDUCATION and LICENSES to qualify.

EDUCATION:

A completed bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college in any disciple with a minimum of 30 semester units (45 quarter) in one or any combination of the following disciplines: Agriculture Science, Biological Science, Chemical Science, Physical Science, Mathematics, and/or Statistics.

LICENSES:

Possession of six (6) core licensesissued by the State of California Department of Food and Agriculture.

Core Licenses: 1) Pesticide Regulation 2) Pest Prevention and Plant Regulation 3) Commodity Regulation 4) Weight Verification 5) Measurement Verification 6) Transaction and Product Verification
