Recreation Assistant (Athletics)
Description
Job Summary Assists with the City of Bryan Parks and Recreation daily operations of recreation and athletic activities for various Parks and Recreation Department programs, facilities, and events under the direction of a department supervisor.
Employees in this position may be rotated or transferred to other facilities and/or assignments based on department and/or seasonal needs. Assignments may include the following program areas:
Aquatics
Athletics
Senior Programs
Youth Programs
Special Events
Essential Job Functions
Assists with planning, organizing, and implementing recreation programs.
Meets and greets new patrons; provides program information and instructs patrons and their parents/guardians on rules and regulations.
Provides responsible supervision of patrons during indoor and outdoor recreational activities.
Enforces all rules and regulations of activities, games, and/or facility. Conducts any disciplinary procedures in a timely manner, making a reasonable effort to contact direct supervisor and parents/guardians of minor patrons.
Acts as a role model to program participants and other staff by demonstrating high standards of personal conduct.
Maintains positive public relations with those encountered through the program.
Delivers excellent customer service to all patrons.
Responds quickly to all emergency situations; administers any emergency first aid as needed.
Continually practices safe work habits and contributes to the safety of self, co-workers, and program participants.
Reports for duty at the times specified and ensures a high standard of personal presentation and appearance is maintained per policy.
Attends mandatory training, orientations, and other staff meetings as scheduled.
Adheres to the policies, rules, regulations and procedures of the City of Bryan and the Parks and Recreation Department.
Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
Must be at least 16 years of age.
Preferred:
High School Diploma/ GED .
Experience working with youth and/or people with diverse backgrounds.
Licenses, Certifications & Special Requirements
Texas Class C driver’s license with a good driving record as measured by the City’s evaluation system.
Current American Red Cross First Aid and CPR / AED (Course C) certifications or the ability to obtain the certifications within the time frame set by the department. (Certification course will be provided free of charge, if selected for hire.)
