Summary

Join our dynamic Accounting and Fiscal Administration unit, under the Finance, Budget & Planning team and play a vital role in keeping our parks safe, accessible, and sustainable through thoughtful, strategic accounting. We are seeking an experienced accountant and leader to serve as Accounting Supervisor (Business and Finance Officer IV - BFO-IV), offering the chance to take on meaningful challenges while strengthening your analytical, innovative, and leadership skills. In addition to the current opening, this recruitment may be used to establish a pool of qualified candidates to fill future Business and Finance Officer IV career service and term-limited temporary openings within the Parks Division or throughout the Department of Natural Resources & Parks (DNRP) over the next six months.

About the Role:

As the Accounting Supervisor (BFO-IV) for King County Parks’ Accounting and Fiscal Administration unit, you will work both independently and collaboratively to deliver essential financial leadership and support. We are seeking a talented professional who excels at building respectful, productive relationships with colleagues and external partners. Reporting to the Financial Services Administrator, you will lead key functions including business planning, procurement card management, accounts payable review and approvals, and sustainability-focused financial initiatives. In this role, you will also supervise a team of professionals while providing advanced accounting expertise that will help guide impactful decision-making.

This position follows a hybrid work model, blending remote and in-person work.

About the Team:

The Finance, Budget & Planning team plays a vital role in advancing the division’s mission to steward, enhance, and expand parks that inspire healthy, thriving communities. As the division’s trusted financial backbone, we drive strong fiscal stewardship, strategic planning, and operational excellence across a system that spans more than 205 parks, 175 miles of regional trails, and 215 miles of backcountry trails. We are a motivated, forward-thinking, and detail-oriented team that values efficient processes, strong systems, and meaningful, impact-driven work. Organized into four specialized units-Finance Administration, Accounting and Fiscal Administration, Budget and Financial Planning, and Procurement and Strategic Sourcing-we partner across the division to deliver the insight and support needed for high-quality services and lasting community impact.
