Description
The JobArrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) is recruiting for
Health Information Management Assistants III, a lead worker who will perform difficult and responsible clerical duties pertaining to the processing of inpatient, outpatient and behavioral health medical records. Duties include assigning and reviewing work, directing and monitoring work flow; providing education and training in both an electronic and paper medical record format, providing legal testimony of integrity of records; resolving complex errors and monitoring records in an electronic and paper format; processing requests for information from various legal and regulatory agencies; auditing the work of subordinate staff; providing coverage for subordinate staff as needed; coordinating the workflow activities and serving as the main point of contact for an offsite storage vendor; overseeing department projects and providing regular status reports.

Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) is a state-of-the-art, public/nonprofit, 456-bed, university affiliated teaching hospital licensed by the State of California Department of Public Health and accredited by The Joint Commission. The hospital houses a regional burn center serving four counties (San Bernardino, Riverside, Mono and Inyo), a comprehensive stroke center, level I trauma center and a freestanding in-patient behavioral health center. Additionally, ARMC operates five community-based, primary care clinics and over 40 specialty care outpatient services. Summary of Benefits Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Pre-Employment Process: Incumbents must pass a background investigation, which includes fingerprinting, work history and education verification, as well as a job-related physical exam and drug screening.
Availability: Positions at ARMC are required to work dayshifts, swing shifts, weekends and holidays. Indicate availability on the appropriate place on the supplemental questionnaire. Failure to indicate availability for
dayshifts, swing shifts, weekends and holidays will disqualify applicants from the examination process.

Minimum Requirements SHIFT AVAILIBILITY: Must be available to work
Dayshifts , Swing Shifts, Weekends and Holidays . Applicants

-AND- EXPERIENCE: Candidates may qualify through
one (1) of the following experience options:
OPTION 1: Experience: Thirty (30) months (within the last five (5) years) of full-time equivalent complex or difficult clerical experience in a medical environment.
Duties must include a variety of complex clerical duties in a minimum of
one (1) of the following areas:
- Reviewing, auditing and resolving patient medical records inaccuracies, deficiencies or discrepancies
- Interpreting, applying and explaining agency/facility policies and procedures to determine an appropriate course of action
- Reviewing and processing regulatory and/or legal requests for patient information
-OR- OPTION 2: Experience: Twenty-four (24) months (within the last five (5) years) of full-time experience auditing and processing medical records in an acute care hospital or outpatient clinic setting.
Desired QualificationsIdeal candidates have experience assigning and reviewing work, directing workflow and overseeing employee schedules. In addition, the highly desired candidate is familiar with medical terminology and has a working knowledge of chart auditing requirements, patient privacy, and confidentiality and security requirements. Lead worker, supervisory and experience with electronic medical records is desired.
