The LA County Department of Human Resources (DHR) has authorized Hiring as an Emergency under Civil Service Rule 13.04 on a limited and temporary basis. This action supports a time-sensitive, Board-directed workforce initiative requiring immediate staffing action to maintain continuity of critical public services.

During your initial work period, you will be assessed on your work performance. This assessment will be weighted 100%.

Those who successfully pass the assessment will be considered for permanent appointment to
Accountant II .

REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY

EDUCATION:

21 semester or 32 quarter units of accounting in an accredited college or university including at least two courses in advanced accounting subjects such as auditing, cost accounting, or governmental accounting.

-AND-
EXPERIENCE:

OPTION I: One (1) year of entry level accounting or auditing experience at the level of Los Angeles County's class of Accountant I * .

-OR-

OPTION II: Two (2) years of technical accounting experience at the level of Los Angeles County's class of Accounting Technician II ** .

You MUST meet the above requirement(s) in order to be appointed to fill any vacancies related to this recruitment.

* Experience at the level of Los Angeles County's class of Accountant I is defined as performing a variety of entry level accounting assignments in the preparation, analysis, review, maintenance, reconciliation, and control of financial records and fiscal revenue and expenditures forecasting.

** Experience at the level of Los Angeles County's class of Accounting Technician II is defined as under general supervision, supervises and performs paraprofessional accounting work in preparing, processing, reconciling and maintaining fiscal records requiring a substantive knowledge of County and general accounting procedures.

LICENSE
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to use an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

PHYSICAL CLASS
Physical Class II - Light: This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working for a public homelessness services agency, such as LAHSA, within the last six (6) months.
