THE POSITION: The incumbent will supervises Medical Imaging Specialists, Radiologic Technologists, Per Diem Pool Radiologic Technologists, and imaging student interns. They will prepare and position patients for a variety of medical imaging procedures ranging from routine diagnostic x-rays to highly-specialized diagnostic tests. They will also oversee the operational network management of the acquisition and electronic archiving of all modality image studies to produce diagnostic images for interpretation by a Radiologist.
Located in an acute care setting, these duties include frequent patient lifting and transport via wheelchair or gurney, moving portable imaging equipment for bedside studies, and standing for extended periods. The role involves potential exposure to radiation scatter, infectious diseases, blood, and body tissues. Assignments may include day, evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts at VCMC or Santa Paula Hospital. Additionally, standby/callback requirements apply to Technologists in CT, Echocardiology, Ultrasound, MRI, Interventional Radiology, and PACS System Administration.

EDUCATIONAL/BILINGUAL INCENTIVE: Incumbents may be eligible for educational incentive of 2.5%, 3.5%, or 5% based on completion of an Associate's, Bachelor's, or Master's degree that is not required for the classification. Incumbents may also be eligible for bilingual incentive depending upon operational need and certification of skill.

Medical Imaging Supervisor is represented by the Services Employees International Union (SEIU) and is eligible for overtime compensation.

The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill current and future Regular (including Temporary and Fixed-term), Intermittent, and Extra Help vacancies for this position only, which is a Regular position. There is currently one (1) vacancy.

All specialty areas within the Medical Imaging Specialist series require CPR certification in addition to the specific specialty certifications listed above.

APPLICATION EVALUATION - Pass/Fail: All applications will be reviewed to determine whether the stated requirements are met. Those individuals meeting the stated requirements will be invited to the written examination.
ORAL EXAM - 100%: A job-related oral exam will be conducted to evaluate and compare participating applicants' knowledge, skills, and abilities in relation to those factors which job analysis has determined to be essential for successful performance of the job. Applicants must earn a score of seventy percent (70%) or higher to qualify for placement on the eligible list.

Applicants successfully completing the exam process may be placed on an eligible list for a period of one (1) year.
