Gulf Beach Lifeguard - Part Time
Description
Overview The Gulf Beach Lifeguard responds to all emergencies including 911 calls on Gulf and Bay beahers (Mcgee and North Beach) such as swimmers in distress, drowning and medical injuries. Lifeguards will always be up to date and physically ready and will ensure beach safety through preventative and response actions on the beach and in he gulf and bay.
Responsibilities • Surveys the water and beach patrons
• Works off fire dispatch and responds to any medical emergencies on the gulf and bay beaches
• Responds to calls including swimmers in distress, drowning, recovery, major medical calls, major trauma and minor injuries
• Ensures all beach rescue equipment stays in operable condition
• Operates jet skis and trucks with lights and sirens - licensed and trained operator certifications required to operate
• Ensures all vehicles and equipment used on the beach are clean and maintained to continue working conditions of equipment
• Maintains a level of physical strength and fitness as required by USLA
• Stays current with all required raining and professional development
• Assists with special events by providing water safety, first aid, traffic control and supplies
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work • Non-Exempt - Part Time - Temporary
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement
• In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services

Minimum Qualifications • High School Diploma/GED or Current High School Student
• No prior experience required
Certifications, Licenses or other requirements Required • A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire
• Swim 500 meters (550) yards over a measured course in ten minutes or less
• Successful completion of Corpus Christi Beach Rescue Academy
• CPR, Firs Aid, and AED Certification (During Lifeguard Academy)
• Open Water Lifeguard Certification (During Lifeguard Academy)
Required within Six (6) months of Hire • Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) or Certified Pool Operator (CPO) Certification
• Lifeguard Instructor Certification

Basis of Rating A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview
