About This Position

The Financial Analyst II provides financial oversight and analytical support for cost recovery, operating funds, and grant-related activities. The position is responsible for monitoring and analyzing financial transactions to ensure eligible costs are accurately identified, allocated, documented, billed, and reimbursed in accordance with applicable agreements, grant requirements, and financial policies. This role supports organizational financial stability by strengthening internal controls, improving financial tracking processes. Key responsibilities include reviewing contracts, grants, delivery orders, and inter-local agreements to ensure compliance with financial terms and funding requirements; supporting accounts payable and reimbursement processes; maintaining financial tracking and reporting tools; and assisting departments with financial procedures and guidance. The analyst also conducts financial analysis and reporting to identify trends, variances, and operational impacts, while supporting budget development, forecasting, and business planning efforts. In addition, the role evaluates expenditures and program performance to support informed decision-making and ensure alignment between financial resources and operational objectives.

Austin Emergency Management (AEM) plans and prepares for emergencies, educates the public about preparedness, develops volunteers, manages grant funding to improve homeland security and public safety capabilities, coordinates emergency response and recovery, supports planned events, and works with public and partner organizations to protect our whole community when it needs us the most.

Hours will vary depending on operational needs. Some evenings and weekends will be required.

Background Screening:

Travel:
If you are selected for this position, and meet the Driver Safety Standards in the City of Austin Driver Safety Program, you may drive when necessary to multiple locations as part of your regular job duties. Otherwise, you are responsible for getting to and from these locations.

Compensation:

$65,390.00 - $ 81,740.00 annually
