Description
The Jefferson County Public Library (JCPL) is hiring a vibrant, innovative, and dynamic Cataloging Services Supervisor to oversee all aspects of the receiving, processing, and cataloging of materials for JCPL. This position supports the mission and vision of Jefferson County Public Library by ensuring access to physical and digital materials for the citizens of Jefferson County. This position collaborates on decisions regarding processing, cataloging, ILS functionality, discovery layers, vendors, and more to ensure discoverability and delivery of resources to patrons. The Cataloging Services Supervisor communicates clearly with team members, leadership, and other stakeholders. Supervises staff in area of responsibility.
Position must comply with laws governing patron privacy and confidentiality under CRS24-90-119 and the Code of Ethics of the American Library Association. Position reports to the Collections Manager. Work location is at the Library Service Center in Wheat Ridge.
This full-time position (40 hours/week) is fully eligible for benefits.

Description:Hiring Range: $64,507.94 - $83,860.32 Annually.- SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES: The statements below are intended to describe the more specific nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position. - CUSTOMER SERVICE: Communicates expectations to staff about Library services and trends in customer service. Models best behavior practice for customer service. Maintains Library resources, including physical and virtual, so that residents have equal access to information and ideas. Implements quality assurance methods in programs presented in their location, including off-site locations as directed.
- CORE LIBRARY SERVICE: Communicates expectations to staff about Library services and trends in customer service. Participates with others in cross-functional teams to accomplish goals and objectives. Applies input from community for implementing system-services using established industry benchmarks. Applies established industry benchmarks in service provision as directed. Maintains current knowledge of trends in libraries and related fields to suggest new services for development and implementation system-wide.
- FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY: Provides input for location/core service budget, audits spending per established procedures, and limits. Participates in annual planning for Library services. Provides input for anticipated local and system needs. Communicates goals and strategic priorities to direct reports. Ensures compliance with budget limits and established purchasing procedures with staff under their supervision.
- Supervises staff in area of responsibility. Administers and makes recommendations for routine personnel matters affecting subordinates, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, assigning, scheduling, granting leave, appraisals, and taking corrective action. Conducts performance evaluations and communicates short- and long-term goals and objectives. Submits personnel records and reports as required by the County. Assists and advises subordinates as necessary, resolves problems as non-routine situations arise, and ensures adherence to established policies, procedures and standards. Communicates changes in policy and procedures to direct reports and implements them as directed

CATALOGING SUPERVISION: Oversees and educates staff on cataloging standards that prioritize local needs while meeting consortium and international standards and practices. Engages stakeholders in creating and implementing cataloging guidelines and process improvements. Collaborates in the management of ILS and Discovery Layer functions as they relate to cataloging and discoverability. Coordinates with vendors on new and existing services. Maintains current knowledge of cataloging standards and practices.
RECEIVING & PROCESSING: Understands acquisitions, receiving, and financial requirements associated with the collection. Leads process improvement in receiving and processing materials. Collaborates in the management of ILS and Discovery Layer functions as they relate to receiving and invoice processing. Coordinates special projects including opening day collection storage and receiving. Maintains knowledge of available value-added services. Ensures vendor compliance with specifications.
DATABASE MAINTENANCE: Oversees the maintenance of JCPL’s catalog in both Sierra and BiblioCore. Investigates new efficiencies to ensure our catalog is as accurate as possible using various reporting tools. Oversees the management of ILS functions as they relate to record loading and authority control.
SPECIAL PROJECTS: Works closely with Collections and other JCPL teams and shareholders on special projects.
Required - Bachelor's Degree
Preferred - Masters degree in Library Science (MLS) or Library Information Systems (MLIS).
Preferred - One year supervisory experience.
Work Schedule: In person Monday through Friday. Occasional weekend/evening.
