About This Position

The Food and Climate Program Coordinator leads efforts that advance Austin’s climate and food system goals by coordinating across City departments, community partners, and regional organizations to implement both the Austin Climate Equity Plan and the Austin/Travis County Food Plan. The role drives projects that expand urban agriculture, strengthen local food production, promote climate-friendly and healthy diets, and improve access to fresh, culturally relevant food. It also manages contracts that support food-system initiatives and serves as a key liaison between the City’s food and climate teams to enhance community resilience and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Business Process Consultant

Purpose:

Responsible for providing project support to Department Directors and the Department Executive Team. Provides consulting services to process leaders and team leaders. Analyzes, and presents alternatives, makes recommendations and provides assistance for resolving business and technical issues confronting process leaders and team leaders in the areas of planning, performance measurement, change management, and periodic assessment review.

Austin Climate Action & Resilience is hiring a Food and Climate Program Coordinator to advance the City’s climate and food system goals through collaborative planning, cross departmental coordination, and on the ground projects. This role sits at the intersection of the Austin Climate Equity Plan and the Austin/Travis County Food Plan, helping to implement both plans and improve community resilience, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and strengthen our local food system.

The Food and Climate Program Coordinator will lead and support initiatives that expand urban agriculture to bolster local food production, promote pro-climate/pro-health diets, and increase community access to fresh, local, and culturally relevant food.

This role serves as a connector across City departments, community organizations, and regional partners, acting as a liaison between the City’s food and climate teams. The coordinator will manage contracts that advance implementation of the food plan and support the growth of partnerships that strengthen Austin’s food and climate ecosystem.

Travel:
If you are selected for this position and meet the Driver Safety Standards in the City of Austin Driver Safety Program, you may drive when necessary to multiple locations as part of your regular job duties. Otherwise, you are responsible for getting to and from these locations.

Compensation:

$71,630.00 - $90,980.00 annually
