Recreation Leader (Recreation Programs) and
Recreation Leader (Fitness Programs). Candidates are requested to specify their preference within the supplemental questions.
Under general supervision, performs recreational work in coordinating, supervising and administering a variety of recreation programs for the Town's Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts Department. Is responsible for organized league sports, classes and programs or special events, as assigned; provides on-site supervision for program implementation. Reports to a Recreation Coordinator or department designee.
Minimum Requirements (Must meet by the closing date of the posting unless otherwise stated)EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED:• Graduation from an accredited High School or GED;
• Two (2) or more years of experience in governmental, non-profit or voluntary recreation programs; or one (1) year of experience in governmental, non-profit or voluntary recreation programs supplemented by college-level course work in recreational programming or a related field.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES
REQUIRED:• Must possess a valid Class "E" State of Florida driver's license.
Essential FunctionsPerforms administrative duties associated division provided through the Parks and Recreation Department; creates and updates mailing lists, letters, forms, spreadsheets, reports and contracts for division: prepares materials and corresponds with vendors, contractors and public concerning various programs and events; responsibility for spelling, punctuation, grammar and proper formatting.
Supervises daily financial procedures and maintenance as required by operations; maintains accurate records pertaining to revenue, inventory, program evaluations, and attendance; collects and accounts for all fees for various program and event registration and division programs; Oversee and manage contract services and vendors.
Takes physical inventory of equipment and supplies; makes recommendations concerning type, amount, and vendor for purchase of new equipment which may be needed; makes authorized purchases with Recreation Coordinator approval.
Performs a variety of miscellaneous duties such as answering phone, typing correspondence, running errands, picking up supplies needed for operations, helping set up facilities for operations. Assists the public at a counter giving information regarding departmental operations, programs and events. Handles telephone inquiries and correspondence; assists with rules and regulation enforcement.
Positively trouble shoots issues and problems as they arise for tasks associated with position and division responsibilities using the best professional knowledge and applying the policies, procedures and philosophies of the division and department.
Represents the Town at various events and meetings.
Oversees, plans, and manages diverse municipal recreation programs and community events. Key responsibilities include organizing summer day camps, aquatics instruction, fitness classes, and specialized activities tailored for youth, adults, and senior citizens.
Oversees the complete registration process for all programs and memberships while ensuring the accurate collection and accounting of all associated fees.
Schedules field trips and meetings; prepare meeting room permits.
Supervises and participates in sign up for Red Cross surplus food give out and distributes food monthly.
Receives inquiries and provides information pertaining to classes, day camp, park rental, room rental and department programs and events.
Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
