About This Position

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation with a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a field related to the job, plus four (4) years of wildfire policy and/or protection-related experience. One (1) additional year of experience may substitute for one (1) year of the required education, with a maximum substitution of four (4) years.

The Temporary Wildfire Mitigation Specialist Senior will provide emergency planning support to Austin Water’s Wildland Conservation Division (WCD), strengthening existing wildfire emergency planning at the division level and working with partners and cooperators to better integrate WCD with other departments and jurisdictions. Existing projects and efforts this position may assist with include:


Critical Employee:

This position has been designated as critical for the City of Austin. Critical positions are necessary and support activities that impact City or department operations. Work can be done at a designated work site or an alternate work location. Critical employees may be reassigned to another area to provide essential services during extraordinary situations or emergencies.

Pay Rate:

$32.96 - $41.20 per hour.

Position(s) will be filled at the following location:

Reicher Ranch, 13700 East Ladera Blvd., Austin, Texas 78738

Days and Hours:

Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, with the potential for a hybrid work schedule, pending manager approval. Other hours as business needs require.
