THE AGENCY

The Alameda County Community Development Agency's mission is to enhance the quality of life of Alameda County residents and plan for the future well-being of the County's diverse communities; to balance the physical, economic and social needs of County residents through land use planning, environmental management, neighborhood improvement, and community development, and to promote and protect agriculture, the environment, economic vitality and human health.

The Community Development Agency houses the following departments: Planning Department, Housing and Community Development, Agriculture Weights and Measures, Healthy Homes Department, and Economic and Civic Development Department.

THE POSITION

This classification specification describes the journey level of the Healthy Homes Community Development Technician flexibly staffed series. Under general supervision, the employees are responsible for performing a wide variety of technical and paraprofessional duties associated with childhood lead poisoning prevention, asthma trigger reduction, accident prevention, and health-related housing programs, and performing related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

EITHER I :

Experience :

The equivalent of one (1) year of full-time experience in the classification of a Healthy Homes Community Development Technician I in the Alameda County classified service.

OR II :

Experience :

The equivalent of two (2) years full-time experience as Specialist Clerk I or equivalent or higher-level classification in the Alameda County classified service.

OR III :

Experience :

The equivalent of three (3) years of full-time experience reviewing, underwriting, and processing application packages for program loans and grants; monitoring and ensuring program compliance for healthy homes projects; or related experience in public health education community development, or service-enriched housing programs.

Substitution :

Completion of 60 college semester or 90 quarter units, which included real estate financing and/or housing and community development-related courses from an accredited college or university, can be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience in pattern III.

License :

Employees must possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License and may be required to drive in the performance of duties.

Special Requirements :

Employees may be required to attend night and/or weekend meetings.

EXAMINATION COMPONENTS

The examination will consist of the following steps:
A review of the applicants’ application to verify possession of minimum requirements. Those candidates who possess the minimum requirements for the class will move on to the next step in the examination process. An oral examination weighted as 100% of the candidate's final examination score. The oral interview will be administered virtually and may contain situational exercises.
