Engineering Associate A

Purpose:

Under close supervision of a Professional Engineer, this position performs routine engineering projects or assignments; exercises limited judgment within defined methods, procedures, and practices.

Austin Transportation and Public Works Department, Right of Way (ROW) Division, is seeking to fill an Engineering Associate position that will manage the intake, completeness check, and the workload assignment of Traffic Control Plans (TCPs) for work zones and special events occurring within the City of Austin’s full purpose. This will also include the processing and workload assignment of conflicting and shared work zone request among the division’s TCP reviewers. This position will play an essential role within the TCP review process in helping ensure the plans meet the minimum conformance of federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations, such as the Texas Manual Uniform on Traffic Control Devices (TMUTCD) and The City of Austin’s Transportation Criteria Manual. Additionally, this position will be responsible for intaking, responding, and working with inspectors/enforcers to provide resolution to 311 Customer Service Requests (CSR) on behalf of the division.

This position will report directly to the ROW Division Supervising Engineer and will work closely with both ROW Engineering and Inspection Operations.

Pay Rate: $27.77 - $33.95 per hour.

Location: Permitting and Development Center - 6310 Wilhelmina Delco Drive, Austin, TX 78752

Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Hours may vary depending on departmental needs and initiatives.

If you are selected for this position and meet the Driver Safety Standards in the City of Austin Driver Safety Program, you may drive when necessary to multiple locations as part of your regular job duties. Otherwise, you are responsible for getting to and from these locations.
