The York County Sheriff's Office is mandated by State Law to operate a Detention Facility along with having the responsibility to maintain law and order as is carried out by the Enforcement Division.
The Enforcement Division is comprised of several differing divisions who are all supported by the Records Management Unit. The divisions are: Uniform Patrol, Administrative Services, Executive Services, Criminal Investigation, and Support Services.
Within the Administrative Services Division, is the Records Management Unit. These Staff members have a multifaceted group of duties which include: Warrants Clerk, Front Desk staff, District Clerks, NCIC Clerks, and Civil Process Clerks.
About our opportunityWe invite you to apply to join our team as a full-time (40 hours weekly), non-exempt Records Management Clerk with York County Sheriff's Office. The purpose of this position is to maintain and ensure the security, confidentiality, and accuracy of all Sheriff's Office records, to retrieve records and information at the request of law enforcement personnel and the public, and to perform clerical and administrative work as required.
Projected Salary Range/Pay Grade 108: $17.80 - $21.36 per hour. Salary is determined based on qualifications.
Work Schedule and location: Generally, the schedule is Monday - Friday 8 am - 5 pm. May be required to work nights, weekends, holidays and emergencies (man-made or natural) to meet the operational needs.

Duties and Responsibilities: - Reviews incident reports submitted by deputies to ensure that quality control standards are met and to verify that such reports meet Uniform Crime Code (UCR)/FBI standards. Communicates with deputies regarding changes, questions, or approval statuses related to submitted incident report.
- Enters warrants into YCSO database. Files original warrants in appropriate locations. Receives and processes detainer requests. Ensures that served or recalled warrants are removed from or recorded as served or recalled, in all appropriate databases. Processes extradition paperwork for Governor’s warrants when appropriate. Assists with arranging transports required to be conducted by law enforcement officers.
- Receives expungement orders and expunges records according to law.
- Ensures that all electronically issued Uniform Traffic Tickets (UTTs) and warning tickets are entered in appropriate databases correctly. Enters all handwritten UTTs and warning tickets into appropriate databases. Monitors and investigates any rejections of UTTs and warning tickets. Transmit all DMV records related to revoked and suspended licenses to the SCDMV. Completes and transmits periodic reports.
- Receives, processes and tracks civil process legal documents. Generates weekly and monthly reports. Issues checks for judgements.
- Answers Sheriff’s Office phone lines. Provides information to civilians and law enforcement personnel. Routes callers to appropriate personnel.
- Performs related work as assigned.
About youMinimum Education and Experience: - Associate’s Degree preferred.
- Two (2) years of clerical or administrative support experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Certifications and Licenses: - S.C. Notary Public.
- Valid state driver’s license preferred.
- May require additional professional or technical certifications as deemed necessary by management.

Longevity AllowanceFull-time regular county employees, elected officials, appointed officials, and judges with ten or more years of full time continuous governmental service are eligible to receive a monthly longevity allowance in addition to their regular compensation. Continuous service transferred from employment with another county, municipality, state or a political entity created by the State may contribute toward eligibility for the longevity allowance. Longevity allowances are paid according to the following schedule.

Employees that have been employed at least 12 months with the county may be eligible for up to 30 days of parental leave immediately following the birth, adoption or placement of a legal dependent child.
Bereavement Leave
Three (3) days of bereavement leave for the death of an immediate family member, which includes a spouse, parent, grandparent or child.
Annual LeaveProbationary and regular full-time county employees that work at least twenty (20) hours per week accrue annual leave with pay. Employees in their new hire six (6) month probationary period shall not be able to use annual leave until they become regular county employees. Employees who are separating from county service shall be paid for all accrued, unused annual leave up to 360 hours provided they give York County as the employer the proper notice as required. Employees in their six (6) month New Hire probationary period who are terminated or separated from employment shall not be paid for accrued annual leave. The maximum amount of annual leave carried into each calendar year is 360 hours.
Earning Rate for Full-Time EmployeesFull-time employees with less than ten years of continuous service earn at the rate of eight hours of paid annual leave for each month of service during a twelve month period. Full-time employees with at least ten years, but less than twenty years of continuous service will earn at the rate of ten (10) hours of paid annual leave for each month of service during a twelve-month period. Full-time employees with twenty or more years of service will earn at the rate of twelve (12) hours of paid annual leave for each month of service during a twelve (12) months period.
Sick LeaveFull-time county employees may be entitled to earn sick leave with pay. Employees may accrue up to 1,440 hours of sick leave. Upon termination of employment with the County, employees may not be reimbursed for any unused sick leave. When a paid holiday occurs while an employee is on sick leave with pay, the day may not be charged as sick leave.
Earning Rate of Sick LeaveFull time employees will earn eight hours of sick leave per month of service during a twelve month period.

Training: Quality training and educational programs are available at various times for county employees in order to support workforce development that is consistent with organizational objectives. Training topics may include driver training, CPR/first aid, communication, supervisor training, workplace violence, substance abuse, and various computer related classes.
