POSITION: Marine Officer Part-Time (Seasonal)SUPERVISOR: Lieutenant Road PatrolDEPARTMENT: Sheriff – Road PatrolJOB CODE:FLSA CLASSIFICATION: NON-EXEMPTRATE OF PAY: $20.50DATE: 5/14/2026POSITION SUMMARY:To educate the public on marine safety, and patrol area waterways in order to enforce the Marine Safety Act.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:The essential functions listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position.Patrols by land and water all lakes in the County to enforce water safety regulations and to perform boat inspections.Instructs the Department of Natural Resources approved marine safety course to 12-16-year-old students.Inspects boats in liveries that are rented to the public.Maintain contact with the Sheriff's Office, acknowledge receipt of dispatches, and responds to emergency situations.Provides accurate information for the preparation of statistical reports and for the prosecution of offenders.Appear and/or testify in civil or criminal cases.Provides assistance to other agencies and the general public as needed that may include medical assistance.Operate job functions in a safe manner.Performs cleaning and maintenance as instructed for vehicles assigned.Other job duties as assigned.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:Demonstrate positive interpersonal skills while having the ability to communicate effectively. Good physical condition, knows how to use communication equipment, computers, marine navigation. Willing and able to work various shifts as assigned. Work as a team with the staff.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:High School diploma or equivalent. Must be able to swim. Must be able to operate a powerboat up to 30' in length.CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES REQUIRED:Must complete 40 hours of training approved by the Department of Natural Resources#J-18808-Ljbffr
