Description

Overview

The Engineer II is responsible for providing engineering assistance to CCW staff on projects, contracts, designs, specifications, and related information on projects.

Responsibilities

• Collect and analyze engineering data and records

• Perform engineering analyses and calculations

• Prepare technical memorandums

• Develop project budgets and schedules

• Create and update projects and work orders in Maximo

• Evaluate existing pipelines and utility infrastructure

• Review condition assessment data

• Recommend infrastructure repairs, replacements, and upgrades

• Develop project exhibits using GIS and CADD

• Prepare Delivery Orders for pipeline replacement contracts

• Prepare and review engineering reports, plans, specifications, and contract documents

• Conduct field investigations and construction site visits

• Research design standards, specifications, regulations, and permitting requirements

• Evaluate proposed products, materials, and equipment

• Support project design, bidding, and procurement activities

• Prepare agenda materials and requests to advertise projects

• Participate in project review, pre-bid, and pre-construction meetings

• Coordinate with City departments, consultants, contractors, regulatory agencies, and the public

• Support construction activities and project implementation

• Investigate design modifications and project concerns

• Assist with field changes and orders

• Resolve construction issues and project disputes

• Apply engineering principles and construction methods to project execution

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work

• Exempt - Full-Time - 40-hour work week

• Must be available to work additional hours as needed

• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement

• In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS)

• Two (2) years of experience

Licenses and Certifications

Required

• A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hiring.

• EIT (Engineer in Training) certification at time of hire

Basis of Rating

A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview
