County Caseworker 1 – Wayne County Children & Youth ServicesSalary: $37,830.00 annuallyLocation: Wayne County, PAJob Type: Civil Service Permanent Full‑timeResponsibilitiesApplication Review – assess applications and conduct guided interviews with potential resource family candidates to determine suitability.Family Advocacy – attend court hearings to support resource families and provide testimony related to their cases.Meeting Support – participate in permanency and transition planning meetings to assist children and families in reaching permanency goals.Program Recruitment – recruit families and engage the community through written materials and presentations to promote resource family care.Report Preparation – prepare clear written reports and oral presentations for groups, agencies, and county officials to inform and educate others.Work Schedule – full‑time 37.5 hours per week, 8:00 AM‑4:30 PM Monday‑Friday with 1‑hour lunch; may require overnight travel or out‑of‑county travel monthly and occasional irregular hours including evenings, weekends, and on‑call hours.Telework – not an option in this position.QualificationsTwo years as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college‑level coursework (12 credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or related social sciences); ORA bachelor's degree (or 12 eligible college credits) in the same fields; ORAny equivalent combination of experience and training (12 college credits plus at least one year as a County Social Services Aide 3 or similar paraprofessional case‑management position).Within two months of graduating, you will be considered to meet the educational requirements.PA residency requirement is currently waived.Must be able to perform essential job functions.Legal RequirementsMust pass a background investigation.Conditional offer of employment requires a drug screening.Position is under the Child Protective Services Law, requiring satisfactory criminal history reports (PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, FBI Fingerprint clearance).Equal Employment OpportunityThe Commonwealth is an equal employment opportunity employer and is committed to a diverse workforce.
