About the Aviation Department The Kansas City Aviation Department is responsible for managing and operating Kansas City International Airport (MCI) and Kansas City Downtown Airport (Wheeler Field - MKC). As an enterprise fund department of the City of Kansas City, Missouri, it is fully supported by airport-generated revenues rather than tax funding. The department focuses on delivering safe, efficient, and cost-effective airport services to airlines, passengers, visitors, and the community. Its operations include overseeing airport administration, maintenance, promotions, and overall system performance while ensuring a high standard of customer service and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
What You'll Do:
- Processes and tracks disciplinary actions for the department.
- Schedules, coordinates, and tracks department Grievances and Disciplinary Hearings.
- Coordinates Hearing schedules, creates Hearing files, and prepares/delivers Hearing Notices.
- Processes and tracks job posting requests, works with hiring team on descriptions and posting locations.
- Primary reviewer of HAM's requests and analysis process.
- Processes employee WAMs/Incentives (verify criteria has been met; coordinate with central HR; prepare PTF)
- Coordinates and participates in departmental investigations.
- Coordinates Department PAWS program.
- Coordinates and track Reasonable Accommodation Request internal process for the department.
- Performs and assists in the assigned duties and functions of administrative staff as needed.
- Supervises and trains administrative staff on departmental processes and procedures.
- Updates and maintains job aids for the divisional processes.
- Acts as division records custodian managing filing, retention, and purging in coordination with the department records custodian.
- Coordinates Pre-Determination Process with Citywide Hearing Officer.
- Coordinates Departmental Administrative Directive creation and updates.
- Conducts departmental Supervisory onboarding training.
- Prepares and coordinates 'Recommendation for Disciplinary Action' (Backup).
- Attends scheduled hearings in the absence of the Division Manager.
- Acts as primary contact for division in absence of the Division Manager.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
REQUIRES - An accredited Bachelor's degree and
- 5 years of experience in a variety of programs requiring professional administrative experience, including
- 3 years overseeing or supervising more complex administrative projects or programs;
- OR high school graduation and
- 9 years of experience in a variety of programs requiring professional administrative experience, including
- 3 years overseeing or supervising more complex administrative projects or programs.
Preference for applicants who possess 2 years' personnel management experience, and PSHRA or SHRM SCP certified.

If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
