Full-time Limited Term Merit position available with the Human Resources Department - Compensation Division * Location: 414 E. 12th St.
Salary Range: $4,619-$6,928 per month
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

About the Human Resources Department The Human Resources Department provides strategic leadership and administrative support for all workforce-related functions across the City. As a key partner to City departments, the team develops and implements policies, programs, and services that support organizational effectiveness and position the City as an employer of choice. Responsibilities include recruitment and hiring, compensation and classification, employee benefits, retirement administration, and workforce development. The department also oversees compliance programs such as unemployment compensation, and workplace policies, ensuring a supportive, equitable, and well-managed work environment for City employees.

This position is a Limited Term Merit for 18-24 while implement and transition to the City's new ERP system. This position acts as a Compensation Specialist for the Human Resources Department and the City. Position will implement established pay polices and assist with maintaining City job specifications, classifications, and salary grades.
What You'll Do: - Conducts job audits of employee job duties to determine proper job classification
- Completes salary surveys and market studies and prepares summary of findings to determine proper classification and pay grades of position.
- Possesses knowledge of rules, policies, and Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) provisions that govern pay changes and records retention
- Assists division and departments with creating and maintaining job specifications and classifications
- Provides assistance to departments and employees for movements and compensation changes
- Implements pay grades and salary movements in accordance with ordinances and collective bargaining agreements
- Creates standard operating procedures for division processes
- Review department workforce advancement models and incentive programs
- Review job classification changes and makes appropriate updates to position in HRIS system
- Assists the Office of Management Budget with understanding salary projections and completing any position control changes as requested
- Reviews hire above the minimum requests for equity and makes recommendations to the Human Resources Director and Human Resources Committee as applicable.
- Produces reports out of HRIS system and create presentations as requested
Qualifications
REQUIRES: - An accredited Bachelor's degree and 1 year of developing and administering an organization's human resources programs which may include compensation, benefits, recruitment, organizational employee development, employee and labor relations, equal opportunity, retirement, and/or HR information systems
- OR high school graduation and 5 years within an public or private human resources department administering and interpreting an organization's human resources programs which may include compensation, benefits, recruitment, organizational employee development, employee and labor relations, equal opportunity, retirement, and/or HR information systems.
- Must possess a valid State -issued driver's license in accordance with the City of KCMO policies.
- Preference given to candidates with knowledge and application of Human Resources Policies and established collective bargaining agreements; knowledge of creating and formulating excel spreadsheets

The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained. Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
