The Colusa County Auditor's Office is seeking a candidate to perform technical accounting, accounts payable, and financial support duties that help maintain accurate records and support efficient County operations. What's this Job All About?
The position plays an important role in supporting the County's financial operations by performing a variety of technical accounting and financial support duties. Responsibilities include data entry of accounts payable, posting journal entries, entering financial data into the County's accounting system, processing cash receipts, printing and distributing AP checks, and maintaining accurate financial records. The position also assists with reconciliations of departmental monthly cash statements, prepares routine financial reports, and provides administrative support for accounting functions while ensuring compliance with established County policies and procedures. Although this summary highlights the primary responsibilities, the position includes a variety of ongoing duties and assignments that require accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks within established deadlines.

Supervision & Examples of Duties

Receives direct supervision from higher-level supervisory or management staff.

May exercise functional and technical supervision over lower-level accounting clerical staff.

Qualifications

Experience and Training Guidelines - Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Experience:
Four years of progressively responsible clerical accounting or bookkeeping experience.

Training:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized coursework in bookkeeping, accounting, or a related field.

Supplemental Information

The salary range above consists of 15 steps. Steps 1-6 are annual merit steps with approximately 5% difference between each step, based on successful performance. Steps 7-15 are additional merit steps, requiring 2 years of satisfactory performance at the previous step. Steps 7-14 provide 2.5% increases, while Step 15 offers a 5% increase. The final salary offered will depend on the applicant's experience and qualifications, ranging from steps 1 to 15.
