Job DescriptionFinancial Accountant III $4,707.60 per month 1 Full-Time PositionCollege Station, Texas The Role at a GlanceThe Financial Accountant III, under direction, performs complex professional accounting tasks within Financial Services. Responsible for general accounting of funds, reporting, transfers, and interacting with other individuals to coordinate fiscal transactions while maintaining excellent customer service.Reconciles various bank, general ledger, financial and non-financial transactions timely (within 30 days). Identifies outstanding items and notifies appropriate personnel of items.Identifies process improvements needed to reduce outstanding items. Serves as backup to Financial Accountant I and Financial Accountant II. Prepares reports and processes certain transactions. Provides backup as assigned to other personnel in Financial Services. Complies with TEEX guidelines, System policies, State, and Federal laws.
This position reports to the Financial Manager, A/R & G/L.
Required Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Four years of accounting experience in a business office.
Equivalency: Will consider six years of experience (Listed Above) with an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university OR eight years of experience (Listed Above) with a High School Diploma/GED.
Required Licenses/Certifications:- Must have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:- Governmental or TAMUS accounting experience.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university.
Physical Requirements:Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:- Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software.
- Knowledge of accounting practices.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
- Communication skills.
- Customer service and problem-solving skills.
Equipment:- Standard office equipment: computer, keyboard, multifunctional printer, telephone, scanner.
Notifications:- This position is security sensitive.
- This position may require work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends.
- This position requires compliance with state and federal laws/codes and Texas A&M University System/TEEX regulations and procedures.
- All tasks and job responsibilities must be performed safely without injury to self or others in compliance with System and Agency safety requirements.
- As part of TEEX’s mission of providing training, developing practical solutions, and saving lives; this position could be required, if called upon, to deploy within the State of Texas as directed by this position’s Division Director/HQ Department Head.
- This position may require independent domestic travel by driving and/or flying on commercial airlines.
- Ability to maintain the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, which may include communications systems, computer networks and systems, cybersecurity systems, electrical grid, hazardous waste treatment system or water treatment system.
- May be required to work weekends for the entire month of July.
Essential Duties, Tasks, and Percentages:Financial Transactions (45%)- Provides customer-oriented service while maintaining compliance and generally accepted accounting principles for financial transactions.
- Ensures financial data integrity is reliable by timely reconciling and assisting customers and co-workers with transactions.
- Reconciles all system investment pool postings, NSF Checks, Endowment funds and Interest earned to the G/L Accounts.
- Reconciles bank charges and prepare for entry in Masterpiece.
- Assists with Unearned Fees reconciliation.
- Researches unidentifiable transactions.
- Maintains bank balances including running and reconciling bank reports to Positive Pay system and CASHNet.
- Reconciles cash accounts to the Trial Balance.
- Researches calls from customers regarding credit card charges.
- Researches and analyzes credit card charges and ensure that appropriate procedures are followed.
- Posts monthly credit card fees.
- Reconciles local demand account.
- Reconciles general ledger balance to bank balance.
Invoice & Receipt Correction Notices (40%)- Reviews correction notices.
- Pulls all needed backup such as cashiering transaction history and receipts/invoices.
- Makes any needed copies and contacts the divisions on any problems.
- Maintains the correction notice log.
- Works with automated transfer batches.
System Information Maintenance (10%)- Assists the Financial Accountant II with Accounts Receivable audit and past due issues in a support role.
- Backs up Financial Services Cashiering and Correction Notice Reviews.
- Represents Financial Services in meetings.
- Serves as the Wells Fargo Administrator.
- May assist in the preparation of financial reports or other documentation as needed.
Other Duties (5%)- Serves as backup as needed in accounts receivable.
- Serves as a backup for Masterpiece training for accounts receivable.
