Summary

Protective Services Officer Unarmed – Richmond Community HospitalScheduled weekly hours: 40, Work shift: Evenings/Nights.Job Summary The Protective Services Officer provides internal and external safety/security functions to support the general safety of BSMH facilities, including investigations and detentions when warranted. Officers are assigned to an area and respond to radio and/or telephone calls for routine and/or emergency assistance.Essential Functions Protect patients, visitors, and employees by providing escorts, patrolling grounds, and mitigating environment of care safety hazards.Deters criminal activity through routine patrols of all hospital property, including all parking lots and decks.Enforces policies such as parking regulations, visitation policies, drug enforcement, and tobacco‑free/smoking policy.Monitors hospital activity on closed circuit television to be alerted to any escalating situations that may require protective services involvement.Intervenes in patient, visitor, and/or staff confrontations as appropriate.Documents all duties performed, including completion of daily activity logs and incident reports.Education High school diploma or GED (required).Vocational/Technical Degree (preferred).Required Licensing & Certifications Valid driver's license (required).BLS Basic Life Support – American Heart Association (required within 6 months of hire).Experience 1–2 years of security, law enforcement, or military experience (preferred).Skills & Abilities Hard/Tech/Clinical Skills: Basic skills using Microsoft Word; proficiency in defensive tools and restraint equipment (batons, handcuffs, body‑worn cameras, soft restraints); radio communication; report writing; surveillance systems; access control software.Soft/Interpersonal Skills: Effective communication, active listening, empathy, conflict resolution.Training Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention Training (required within 6 months of hire).Benefits Competitive pay, incentives, referral bonuses, and 403(b) with employer contributions (when eligible).Medical, dental, vision, prescription coverage, HSA/FSA options, life insurance, mental health resources and discounts.Paid time off, parental and FMLA leave, short‑ and long‑term disability, backup care for children and elders.Tuition assistance, professional development and continuing education support.Equal Opportunity Employer Bon Secours is an equal opportunity employer.
