DescriptionCity of Forney is seeking a customer-focused
IT Systems Administrator to support and maintain the technology infrastructure that enables City departments to serve our community every day.
Under the direction of the IT Director, this position is responsible for all server software and operating system management. In addition, this position plays a vital role in all new systems/software deployments, including inter-department/vendor coordination. Lastly, this position serves as the first point of escalation for all technical staff supporting the city staff.

- Maintains all software and operating systems through updates, patches, and configurations.
- Maintains favorable working relationships with all hardware and software vendors and meets all renewals and obligations.
- Maintains data accuracy through routine audits and communicating with city departments and vendors.
- Provides Tier 2 support directly to technical staff and acts as a catalyst to communicate with vendors or internal Tier 3.
- Maintains data integrity through the use of modern backup solutions, including monitoring and testing of all backups on a scheduled basis.
- Assists the IT Systems Engineer with configuration and physical deployment of all network and server equipment.
- Provides necessary documentation to technical staff, including diagrams, written and verbal instructions, etc., essential to maintaining continuity of duties during absences.
- Coordinate hardware and software installations with other technical staff and vendors.
- Maintain telephony systems, including VOIP, analog, and hybrid environments.
- On-Call rotation: This position will share an on-call rotation with other technology staff to ensure 24x7x365 operations of all critical systems.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: No direct supervision exercised.
Minimum Qualifications- Possess a valid driver's license.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field.
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
- Five (5) years of systems support technology experience.

Basic group life insurance protection is provided to eligible full-time employees in the amount of two times the annual salary as recorded at the beginning of each year.
Voluntary products are also available to full-time employees and include supplemental life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, cancer insurance, and critical care.

Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS)
All employees appointed to positions designated to work 1,000 hours or more per year must participate in the Texas Municipal Retirement System. TMRS is a qualified tax deferred retirement plan under Section 401 of the IRS. Seven percent of gross earnings are deducted each payroll as a pre-tax deduction and deposited into the member account. When an employee becomes vested and retires, the city provides 2-to-1 matching contributions.

Salary:
$79,409.80 - $96,254.31 Annually
