REAL TIME INFORMATION CENTER SUPERVISOR

The ideal candidate is an experienced public safety professional who thrives in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment where operational awareness and effective decision making are critical. This individual possesses a strong background in law enforcement support, emergency management, intelligence analysis, or related public safety operations, with the ability to lead and develop high-performing teams. They possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and can effectively collaborate with internal departments, external agencies, and community stakeholders. DEFINITION
Under general direction, plans, schedules, assigns, reviews and supervises the work of staff responsible for the daily services and activities of the Police Department's Real Time Information Center; plans and coordinates with public safety agencies, City departments and other entities to promote effective operations; trains and directs staff in the monitoring, operating and interpreting of multiple interactive technological systems regarding emergency and criminal calls for service; and performs related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives general direction from the Real Time Information Center Manager. Exercises supervision over professional and technical-level staff.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS
This classification is the supervisory level that exercises independent judgment on diverse and specialized real time information activities with significant accountability and ongoing decision-making responsibilities associated with the work. Incumbents are responsible for planning, organizing, supervising, reviewing, and evaluating the work of assigned staff and providing support to assigned management staff in a variety of areas. This class is distinguished from the Real Time Information Center Manager in that the latter has full management authority in planning, organizing, and directing the full scope of real time information center operations within the department.

Education and Experience :

A bachelor’s degree and three (3) ( years of increasingly responsible experience performing professional level staff support in a law enforcement setting, with duties related to incident command, critical incident response, intelligence analysis, or emergency management).

License or Certificate :

Must complete FEMA Emergency Management Institute course ICS 100 - Introduction to the Incident Command System within (1) year of employment.

Retired Annuitants: This is a regular full-time position. Retired Annuitants are not eligible for appointment to this position under Government Code Sections 7522.56, 21224, 21227, and 21229. Retired CalPERS members may apply only if they are planning to voluntarily reinstate from retirement.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. Standing in and walking between work areas is frequently required. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment. Positions in this classification frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and reach to perform assigned duties, as well as push and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects up to 10 pounds. Reasonable accommodations will be made for individuals with disabilities qualified to perform essential functions of a position or positions within this classification.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
Employees work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. Employees may interact with upset staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Employees may be expected to work overtime, weekends, evenings, and holidays as required.
