Several full-time positions available with the Public Works Department, Street Maintenance - District I & District III and Traffic Signs & Markings Division Pay Range: $20.10-$30.64 per hour
Work Location: District I: 2400 NE Russell Road,
District III: 4725 Coal Mine Road,
and
Traffic Signs & Markings: 5310 Municipal Ave
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

What you'll do in Street Maintenance - District I & III Divisions:
- Operates trucks on road maintenance and street repair work hauling cold patch, hot asphalt, gravel, rocks and abrasives; drives trucks in transporting personnel and materials to designated work sites.
- Drives a truck engaged in street-cleaning activities; participates in snow plowing and snow removal operations.
- Drives a truck with a flat-bed trailer for hauling construction equipment; drives construction equipment on and off lo-boy units.
- Operates a large construction tractor or crawler-type bulldozer to compact street and road sub-grades.
- Operates tractors, rollers, loaders, and backhoes to perform mowing, loading, trenching, grading, and asphalt work.
- Makes field repairs to equipment, assists mechanics as needed, and services equipment with fuel, oil, water, and grease.
What you'll do in Traffic Signs & Marking Division:
- Install, remove, and relocate roadway markings to ensure streets are clearly marked and safe for public use.
- Drive box trucks, pickups, flatbeds, and platform trucks to transport materials and support work operations.
- Report daily marking activities to ensure accurate tracking and support project accountability.
- Respond to emergency requests to restore roadway safety and address urgent needs.
- Install signs and set barricades to control traffic flow and maintain safe work zones.
- Participate in snow removal activities to keep roads safe and accessible during winter conditions.
Qualifications
REQUIRES - 6 months of experience in the operation of trucks and other specialized automotive equipment.
- Must possess a valid state-issued driver's license in accordance with City of KCMO policies.
- May be required to possess a valid Missouri Class A, B or C CDL prior to the end of probationary period.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and post-offer physical examination as prescribed by the City.

Positions requiring a high school diploma/GED certificate must be obtained from a school/program accredited by the Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
The minimum education requirement for positions that allow for experience equivalency for an accredited degree is a high school diploma. Unless otherwise specified, an accredited degree must be obtained from a college or university listed with the U.S. Department of Education and recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education.
For positions with a salary grade of EX6 or higher that require an accredited degree, qualifying professional experience must be obtained AFTER the accredited degree is obtained. Successful completion of a pre-employment criminal history/background check is required for all positions. Some positions require a post offer drug screen and/or physical.
If appointed, non-residents must obtain residency inside Kansas City, Missouri's city limits within nine months.
