Summary

The Senior Consultant or Principal Consultant - Fire Protection Engineering is tasked with ensuring that IFO Group's domestic and international clients are provided with expert consultancy services for technical fire protection engineering and consulting. Experience with industrial fire protection engineering is a strong advantage but not required. Preferred location for candidates is Houston, TX metro area but other locations (including remote) may be considered for outstanding applicants.The key objectives of the position are as follows:Fire Protection EngineeringThorough understanding of fire protection system concepts and software modeling related to specialty fire protection systems design, including software related to fire & gas detection mapping and fire water system hydraulic analysis.Review and development of life safety plans.Life safety and building code consulting.Detailed knowledge of fire protection codes and standards related to Oil and Gasand Process and Chemical facilities. Able to produce / review philosophies, specifications, reports and drawings related to fire protection and safety systems and equipment.Interface with clients, as required, for the design, installation, and testing of Fire Protection Systems.Perform field surveys and inspections at client project construction sites.Candidates should be capable of developing and/or checking the following deliverables: Firewater System P&IDs, Fire Protection Location Plans, Electrical Area Classification Plans, Fire Proofing Limit Plans and Fire and Gas Detection Location Plans.Evaluation of losses caused by fire and/or explosionAssess fire protection system failuresCollect and examine data and evidence at the site of a fire lossResearch and write expert reportsInterview witnesses to obtain information during an investigationTestify in court cases involving investigated lossesProfile of Ideal CandidateEducation : Science, Technology, or Engineering degree or equivalent required; with current professional mechanical or fire protection engineering license(s) is REQUIRED . Ability to obtain a Texas PE license within 6 months if not already licensed or able to obtain reciprocity. Prior experience in PSM and/or battery storage systems is a strong advantage for candidates.Assignment Location: Preferred location for candidate is Houston, TX but other locations may be considered for outstanding applicants. All candidates must be U.S. citizens or hold current legal residency status. Full time candidates are preferred but part time and contract staff will be considered.
