Crime Analyst
Description
Overview The Crime Analyst must gather, process, and disseminate crime statistical data requested by department personnel or others to identify crime trends and patterns. Distribute information from other agencies to the department. Develop reports on inmate release. Perform long-term analysis on case data by compiling quarterly and yearly reports. Identify patterns of activity or behavior, predict future activity and provide suspect leads and convey finding through written reports or maps.
Responsibilities • Handle requests for crime statistical data, gather, process, and disseminate information to department personnel or other to identify crime trends and patterns
• Distribute information received from other agencies to department
• Fulfill specific requests for information from Investigators
• Assemble Texas Department of Criminal Justice inmate release notification into reports and distribute throughout the department
• Notify Officers of safety advisories
• Create reports for specific purposes by retrieving, manipulating, and calculating data as needed
• Provide crime incidence data to CID and Patrol by retrieving and collating daily offence data from Leads
• Issue periodic reports compiled from data to Bureau leaders for distribution to district units
• Keep up-to-date, accurate records by performing long-term analysis on case data
• Compile quarterly and yearly reports
• Analyze offense data by beat and reporting district and distribute to CID bureaus and patrol division
• Identify patterns of activity or behavior, predict future activity, provide suspect leads, and convey findings through written reports or maps to CID and patrol by performing periodic analysis on case data
• Responding to requests from outside CID by acquiring detailed specifications from requesting divisions or agencies
• Perform time estimates and obtain authorizations for project while integrating work with regular duties to meet schedules
• May be asked to perform other duties as assigned
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work - Non Exempt - Full-Time Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement

Qualifications • Associates Degree (AA/AS); or 2 year technical certificate
• Two (2) years of experience
Required • A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications and may request additional information. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
