About our opportunity

The Parks Department is excited to hire a non-exempt, temporary Recreation Specialist to join their team at Allison Creek Park! The purpose of this position is to monitor and supervise persons and usage of the park; to provide information and assistance to park visitors; and to perform related work as required. The ideal candidate will have excellent customer service skills and cash handling experience. T his position primarily works in the gatehouse, visitor's center, and concession stand but also performs all other necessary park duties as required.

Projected Salary Range/Pay Grade106: $16.14 - $19.37 per hour. Salary is determined based on experience and/or education.

Work Schedule: This is a temporary position at Allison Creek Park. Po sition works a rotating schedule that includes nights, weekends and holidays based on operational needs and park hours. Also based on our policy any employee that is considered temp should not work more than 6 months: TEMPORARY EMPLOYEE. An employee who understands they are hired for a limited period of time not to exceed six months, by agreement with the county, and is not entitled to any county benefits. Exceptions to this policy must be approved by the County Manager or his/her designee based on a request from the department director.

A valid South Carolina Food Handling Certification will be required to obtain within 2 weeks of hire date.

Annual Leave:Temporary employees do not accrue annual leave.

Training:Quality training and educational programs are available at various times for county employees in order to support workforce development that is consistent with organizational objectives. Training topics may include driver training, CPR/first aid, communication, supervisor training, workplace violence, substance abuse, and various computer related classes.
