University Enterprises Corporation at CSUSB ("UEC") supports the university's educational mission by providing quality services that complement the instructional program. The University depends upon UEC to provide services that cannot be supported with state funds. We’re responsible for business enterprises on campus including, but not limited to, dining, bookstore, convenience store, and vending services. We also serve as the grantee for federal, state, and local funding for research and sponsored projects.

Position Summary

Temporary, Staff, Part Time, Non-Benefited position through 6/30/2027 (Appointment may be renewed annually based upon availability of funds, availability of work and satisfactory job performance).

Salary: $26.00-$32.00 per hour.

Location: CSUSB, and occasional off campus sites in the region.

Work Schedule

19 hours per week. Schedule to be arranged, but typically, Monday-Friday within the hours or 8:00AM to 5:00PM. Some evenings and weekends may be required.

Typical Activities

Under minimal supervision of the Song Brown Director, the Student Success Specialist will work independently to:
  • Support students in the nursing program by helping them fulfill their strategic success plans (SSP) developed by faculty.
  • Provide workshops for students in areas including but not limited to time management, testing strategies, online resource navigation, career development, resume building, interview strategies.
  • Collaborate with other university program support to help students including but not limited to CARE team, SSD, career center, tutoring center, writing center, financial aid, and academic advising.
  • Collaborate with faculty in supporting student success in the program.
  • Coordinate student/faculty success development activities supported by the Song Brown grant, including but not limited to ATI test-taking strategies, ATI Live Reviews, and NGN item-writing faculty development.
  • Collect, draft and report outcome data to PI, Co-PI, and other DON committees.
  • Recommend strategies to faculty and staff to support student success.
  • Provide innovative solutions to help students become successful.
  • Work creatively to recruit diverse students, including creating flyers, setting up booths, attending job fairs, hosting student tours or attending high school/junior college information sessions.
  • Assist staff and faculty with DON activities and celebrations, e.g., recognitions, orientations, advisories, and forums.
  • Create newsletters to share students and department success
  • Collaborate with Song Brown grant staff, co-PI, and PI.
  • Occasional local travel may be required to attend meetings, training sessions, clinical sites, community partner locations, and other university-related activities. A valid California driver's license and reliable transportation may be required based on assigned duties.
  • Other position related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education:
    • Master’s degree.
  • Experience:
    • Experience in higher education, student services, and/or nursing program support.
  • Other:
    • Knowledge of student services principles and practices, nursing or healthcare education, and university policies and procedures.
    • Strong organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage multiple priorities, maintain confidentiality, use standard office software and student information systems, and provide effective support to students, faculty, staff, and community

      partners while fostering a diverse and inclusive environment.
    • Proficient in Excel, Microsoft, Zoom, Teams, and Canvas LMS.
    • Strong customer service skills.
