Position Information

The Brentwood Police Department is looking for highly motivated individuals who are committed to serving the community and want to be part of a professional, progressive law enforcement agency. Our department is dedicated to providing officers with the training, equipment, and resources they need to succeed and thrive throughout their careers.

Newly hired Police Officer Trainees will participate in a comprehensive entry-level field training program under the guidance of experienced Field Training Officers, preparing them for both the police academy and a successful career in law enforcement.

Trainees will attend a full-time, 26-week Bay Area Police Academy, where they will receive extensive instruction in a variety of law enforcement topics, including criminal law, report writing, firearms, emergency vehicle operations, defensive tactics, and physical fitness. The academy is designed to challenge and develop each recruit's mental resilience, physical endurance, and professional skills.

Qualifications

Education, Experience and Age: Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be: Licenses and Certifications:

Application Process

The examination process will consist of: Application Screening - Review of applications for minimum qualifications for the position.Examination Process - A written examination OR Pellet B passing score will be required. Eligible List - All applicants that pass the examination process will be placed on the eligible list which is good for at least 6 months and may be extended up to an additional 18 months. This eligible list will be used by the City of Brentwood to fill all current and future openings in this classification as long as the list is active.Physical Assessment and Oral Board Examinations will be held on September 13, 14 and 15. Polygraph Exam - Selected candidates will be invited to take a polygraph exam.Captains Interviews - The best qualified candidates will be invited for a Captains interview.Background Investigation - Selected candidates will be invited to complete comprehensive background investigation process.Police Chief - Final candidates will be invited to interview with the Police Chief.Medical and Psychological Evaluations - One or more candidates may be provided a conditional offer of employment. All employment offers are contingent upon the successful completion of a medical and psychological evaluation.Police Academy - Candidates that complete the hiring process will be enrolled in a Police Academy.
