DescriptionThe final filing date is Mondayday, August 31, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. or after receiving 100 qualified applicants, whichever is first. Casual non-benefited employees are limited to working no more than twenty-five (25) hours per week and no more than 900 hours in a fiscal year (July 1-June 30). The City of Sunnyvale is seeking self-motivated, energetic, responsible individuals interested in part time employment to provide facility-related services and equipment set-ups for recreation programs and events at the Community Center and various sites throughout the City.
Essential Job Functions(May include, but are not limited to, the following):
- Performs light cleaning, removes trash, moves furniture and equipment, and picks up supplies for programs and classes.
- Monitors facility user groups by enforcing rules and regulations, and securing and/or reporting damage or unsafe conditions.
- Serves as a contact for evening and weekend events, responding to customer questions and ensuring policies and procedures are followed.
- Opens facilities in mornings and secures them in the evenings.
- Provides appropriate room setup and take down for classes, meetings, parties, and special events; ensures rooms are free of safety hazards.
WORKING CONDITIONSPosition requires regular sitting, standing, walking, reaching, kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping in the performance of activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement, and fine coordination. Additionally, the position requires near and far vision in reading reports and work-related documents and using a computer. Acute hearing is required when providing personal customer service. The need to lift, drag, push, and pull objects weighing up to 10 pounds is also required. Some of these requirements may be accommodated for otherwise qualified individuals requiring and requesting such accommodation.
Minimum Qualifications- Minimum age is 16 years old.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Proficient in areas related to customer service.
- Must be available to work 6-8 hour shifts on weekday evenings and weekends each week.
Licenses/Certificates:Possession and continued maintenance of a valid class C California driver's license and a safe driving record or the ability to supply alternate transportation as approved by the appointing authority.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS- Experience in customer service and/or facility-related services.
- Bilingual in Spanish, Mandarin, or Farsi
