County Caseworker 1 positions with Lycoming County Children and Youth Services offer a chance to make a meaningful difference every day. DESCRIPTION OF WORKThis position focuses on assessing requests and referrals for services and ensuring safety for children within assigned families. As a County Caseworker 1, you will perform the following duties:
- Referral Assessment: Evaluate incoming service requests and referrals to determine needs
- Family Evaluation: Complete short term family assessments through interviews and contacts
- Safety Monitoring: Conduct required in-home visits to check safety, permanency and well being
- Risk Assessment: Identify initial and ongoing risks of harm and act when safety cannot be assured
- Documentation Management: Maintain case records and enter required information into State or Joinder systems
- Client Support: Help clients use strengths and resources to meet health, emotional and economic needs
- Full-time employment.
- Work hours are 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 and two years of college level course work which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
- A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of experience as a County Social Services Aide 3 or in a similar position performing paraprofessional case management functions.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
Other Requirements:
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
