Job Description:

Security Operations Center Officer

Purpose:

This position monitors a variety of security technologies, including access control, video surveillance, and alarm systems, to provide security services for all properties and act as the shift point of contact by providing training, technical guidance, or support during security-related incidents.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:

May provide training and guidance to others.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.


Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus two (2) years of experience providing security services in a Security Operations Center.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

Valid Texas Class C Driver License

The Security Operations Center Officer monitors a variety of security technologies, including access control, video surveillance, and alarm systems, to provide security services for all properties and acts as the shift point of contact by providing training, technical guidance, or support during security-related incidents.

Essential Employee:

This position has been designated as an Essential Employee position. In the event of a city-designated emergency, Essential Employees provide services that impact public health, safety, utility services, and the welfare of members of the Austin community and other employees and ensure the continuity of essential operations. In such an emergency, Essential Employees may be called back in, required to modify their schedule, assigned to a city-designated work site, or retained on site to assist with operations and recovery.

Pay rate:

$25.22 - $29.70 per hour

Position will be filled at the following location:

Waller Creek Center (625 E.10th St., Austin, Texas 78748)

Days and Hours:

Night Shift: 6:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m. or Day Shift: 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Shift may change according to departmental needs; work hours may include after-hours, holidays, and weekend work, and other hours as required.
