The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors recently declared a local state of emergency for homelessness , and the County is working to revise and expand our response to help all who are affected. We are looking for qualified and passionate individuals to help us in the mission of addressing issues like housing, mental health, and substance use. The Department of Youth Development is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the emergency Accountant III position related to the homelessness crisis in the Finance & Fiscal Unit.


Under the emergency order, applicants who meet the requirements may be hired for an initial period of up to 90 days, with an opportunity for permanent County employment.

Before the end of your initial work period, you will be assessed on your work performance. This assessment will be weighted 100%.

Those who successfully pass the assessment will be considered for permanent appointment to Accountant III.

Completion of 21 semester or 32 quarter units* of accounting in an accredited college or university including at least two courses in advanced accounting subjects such as auditing, cost accounting, or governmental accounting.

-AND-

Two (2) years of professional accounting or auditing experience at the level of** Los Angeles County's class of Accountant II***, Accountant-Auditor**** or higher.

***Experience at the level of Accountant II is defined as performing a full range of professional accounting and auditing work in the preparation, analysis, review, maintenance, reconciliation and control of financial records and fiscal revenue and expenditures forecasting.

****Experience at the level of Accountant-Auditor is defined as assisting in conducting management, performance, financial, and compliance audits and other studies of the organization and contract providers.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

License: Valid California Class C Driver License or ability to travel for work-related duties.

Physical Class: 2 - Positions within this class require light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.

EXAMINATION CONTENT Near the end of your temporary assignment, the appointing department will evaluate your performance. Those who achieve a passing score on this evaluation will be placed on a list and considered for permanent appointment.
