Museum Rental Staff
The City of Raleigh Museum preserves and educates audiences about the social, political, cultural, and economic history of Raleigh from the earliest times to present. Through its motto of "Then, Now, Next," the Museum seeks to preserve the history and heritage of Raleigh while considering its present and imagining its future. Housed in the historic 1874 Briggs Hardware Building, the museum curates temporary and permanent exhibits about the city's people, places, and resources; maintains a collection of approximately 10,000 artifacts; and offers education programming and tours.
The Museum Rental Staff position will be responsible for being the on-site presence at the City of Raleigh Museum during rentals and events. The job duties consist of event set-up: setting up tables and chairs according to clients' floorplans, and customer service responsibilities: greeting visitors, being aware of the details of the contracts for the event, answering any questions the client may potentially have, and being a steward of the museum's rules and policies.

This position requires the lifting of approximately 20-25 pounds and ability to set up tables, chairs, and more. The applicant must be comfortable working directly with clients either on the phone or in person, as well as assisting the renter's needs during the rentals/events, which can include last minute changes and delays, while maintaining a professional and positive demeanor. The applicant needs to feel confident in creatively and independently problem-solving issues that may arise, as there will be little supervision. The applicant must be aware of all safety procedures and policies, in case an emergency should arise. There will also be light housekeeping duties as needed before events.
Other duties as needed and assigned.
Customer service experience required. High school diploma or equivalent required. Effective communication and organization skills are required. Knowledge of audio/visual equipment or ability to learn preferred.

This position has flexible hours based upon event rental schedules. Must be able to work nights and weekends as needed, and occasionally holidays.
