Job Title

The New Jersey Judiciary is seeking an organized, detailed-oriented individual with field supervision and administrative experience who enjoys working with justice-involved adults to join the Office of Probation Services, Intensive Supervision Program (ISP) in the Southern Regional Office (Cherry Hill, NJ).

If another position becomes available within five months of this recruitment's closing date, the applicant pool from this posting may be used to fill additional vacancies. The selected individual will primarily be responsible for field supervision of individuals on ISP in the community. Caseloads for this position could be located in the following vicinages: Atlantic, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem. Under the general supervision of the Court Services Supervisor 4 or other supervisory personnel, the individual having gone through a rigorous screening process, is given an opportunity to abide by a set of rules and thereby earn their continued release to the community. The reorientation to the community depends upon that individual's commitment to change. The Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule, and this position may qualify for up to 2 days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. To participate in this program, in addition to installing a multifactor authentication app on your phone or tablet, you will be required to have high speed home internet access.

Example of Duties
  • Must be able to work independently to meet organizational and program goals
  • Maintain and update documentation of work using a computerized system, databases, electronic files and spreadsheets
  • Work cooperatively with ISP participants, other ISP staff, judges and personnel, treatment providers, and other community agencies
  • Must be available to participants, participants' families, treatment, and placement facilities staff, providing updates on participant progress and obtaining information regarding their respective interactions with the participant, as the program operates seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day
  • Candidate must be able to handle a variety of technical and client support and supervision functions in addition to assisting program participants in attaining specific rehabilitative goals that facilitate the successful completion of the Intensive Supervision Program
  • Work closely with the clients and their families to identify educational, vocational, treatment, and employment opportunities while actively monitoring participants for compliance with court orders, ISP conditions, and providing necessary referrals to programs for assistance
  • Duties also include writing assessments, completion of progress reports, providing recommendations and/or testimony for court, and other related duties as required
  • Perform other related duties as required

Court Services Officers work a 40-hour work week and an alternate schedule which include nights and weekends. Regular and predictable physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position.

Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and four years of professional experience in casework involving supervising offenders, and one or more of the following: gathering and analyzing case-related information; determining client needs; providing access to social services, therapeutic interventions, or rehabilitative assistance; and/or preparing reports of findings and recommendations. Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute additional paraprofessional or professional experience on a year-for-year basis with one year of such experience being equal to 30 semester hour credits. An associate degree from an accredited college or university and two years of additional paraprofessional or professional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree. A master's degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for one year of experience. Degrees conferred outside of the United States must be evaluated by a recognized evaluation service.

Supplemental Information

For some positions, applicants must have the ability to perform work which requires climbing and prolonged standing, stretching, bending and reaching to perform the essential duties of the position. For some positions, the selected candidate must be able to frequently lift and carry supplies weighing from 30 to 50 pounds and, occasionally, materials weighing up to 75 pounds, in order to perform essential duties of the position. Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position. Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations. Newly hired employees must agree to a thorough background check that will include fingerprinting. All data received will be kept in strict confidence except to inform the individual of the findings and what action will be taken as a result of this information. In accordance with N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70), the "New Jersey First Act," all persons newly hired by the Judiciary within one year must establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey. Any person may request an exemption from that requirement from the Employee Residency Review Committee in the Department of Labor & Workforce Development on the basis of either hardship or employer critical need.
