Summary
Security Officer
**This position will work Saturday, Sunday and Monday nights from 6pm-6:30am.** The Security Officer provides security services to VCUHS by courteously assisting staff, visitors and patients; enforcing rules and regulations of the hospital; projecting a positive image; and promoting a safe healthcare environment. The Security Officer conveys an image of professionalism, behaving in a way that is conducive to good hospital and community relations. This is an unarmed, non-sworn security position.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment: N/A
Experience REQUIRED:
- Previous knowledge of security and/or law enforcement measures and techniques at a level generally acquired during 6 to 12 months of on-the-job training and orientation in such techniques or college curriculum in Administration of Justice
Experience PREFERRED:
- One (1) year of security, public safety or law enforcement work experience
Education/training REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Education/training PREFERRED:
- Associate Degree in Criminal Justice or related field
Independent action(s) required:
- De-escalates agitated patients, both individually and as a member of a team.
- Prevents potentially risky and/or violent situations.
Supervisory responsibilities (if applicable): N/A
Additional position requirements:
- Ability to work all shifts including weekends and holidays and extended hours based on schedule and organizational needs.
- Some Security Officer roles may require valid Virginia Driver's License and acceptable driving record that reflects safe and lawful motor vehicle operation.

- Physical: Lifting 20-50 lbs.

- Mental/Sensory: Strong recall, Reasoning, Problem solving, Hearing, Speak clearly, Write legibly, Reading, Logical thinking
- Emotional: Fast pace environment, Able to handle multiple priorities, Noisy environment, Able to adapt to frequent change
