Summary
WASHINGTON COUNTYCorrection Officer Part-Time*
Washington County is currently seeking applications for Part-Time Correction Officers* with the possibility of becoming Full-Time. An employee in this class is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the County Jail on an assigned shift. Work involves the maintenance of security and the enforcement of all laws, rules and regulations pertaining to the facility. Work includes the supervision of inmates during admission, various release activities within the facility, detention and release. Work is performed under the general supervision of a superior officer and is reviewed through conferences, daily reports and records; however, an employee is expected to exercise considerable independent judgment in the performance of assigned duties. Work may involve a substantial element of personal danger. The incumbent does related work as required.
*PROVISIONAL APPOINTMENT: This is a Civil Service Competitive position. Provisional appointee must take a future-dated exam, be reachable on the resulting Eligible List and must pass the required Physical Agility to qualify for permanent appointment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Possession of a valid New York State Drivers' License is required at time of appointment.
RATE OF PAY: $21.69/hour (No benefits included).
