Summary
Summit County is recruiting a full-time Deputy Treasurer to facilitate the collection of county property taxes and the processing of county general funds. Will also participate in the recording of tax remittances and maintenance of property tax records as required by law for the office of County Treasurer. Potential applicants need a thorough understanding of a Windows-based computer environment, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, a knowledge of cloud-based computing preferred. Knowledge of basic accounting, ability to perform mathematic functions quickly and accurately, experience with banking procedures preferred. Must communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with fellow employees, supervisors, and the public. May hire a Deputy Treasurer I, II or III depending on submitted qualification and experience. Job Closes 08/27/26 at 5:00pm MST.
SALARY RANGE: $21.06 - $33.15/hr.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduation from High School, with course background in bookkeeping, accounting, mathematics, finance or some other related field; plus one year of specialized training related to above duties; AND
- Two years of general clerical and/or financial experience; OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Collects current and delinquent property tax payments in person, by mail, and online; posts payments and issues receipts.
- Receives county revenues, reconciles daily receipts, operates check-scanning equipment, and prepares bank deposits.
- Maintains tax records, processes record changes, prepares reports, and assists with delinquent tax mailings.
- Assists the public by phone, email, and in person with property tax questions, payments, property ownership, assessed values, addresses, and exemptions.
- Conducts property tax and ownership record research for property owners, banks, mortgage companies, and title companies.
- Handles billing for special service districts, including invoices, payments, and record updates.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the County Treasurer and Chief Deputy Treasurer.
