Summary
Public Works Operations Specialist - StreetThis position is responsible for operating heavy equipment and performing street maintenance and repair duties in support of department operations.Major duties include:Operating heavy equipment and vehicles used in the repair and maintenance of city streets.Transporting equipment and tools to and from work sites.Maintaining and repairing equipment and tools and streets.Assisting concrete crew as needed; building forms, removing, replacing and finishing concrete according to construction standards.Assisting with seasonal snow, ice, and leaf removal.Assisting in excavating materials from job sites.Repairing concrete and asphalt streets as required.Responding to emergency call out situations as required.Assisting with traffic control duties.Performing other related duties as assigned.Knowledge required by the position includes:Front-end loaders, backhoes, dump trucks, and other types of heavy and light equipment used in the repair and maintenance of streets.Tools, equipment, materials, and procedures used in the maintenance and repair of streets.Operation of backhoes, dump trucks, and other related heavy and light equipment used in the repair and maintenance of streets.Operation of street maintenance tools and equipment.Use of chainsaws, weed eaters, and other power tools.Oral and written communication.Minimum qualifications include:High School graduation or equivalency and two (2) years experience and a demonstrated proficiency in various types of construction activities.Must comply with Missouri CDL requirements and possess and maintain a valid Class "B" or better CDL with air brake endorsement.Preferred qualifications include:Experience and a demonstrated proficiency in heavy equipment operations on construction site.Salary per hour $20.10, plus a generous benefit package.Bi-weekly pay periods.Thirteen paid holidays per year.96 hours of vacation – accrued throughout the year.96 hours of sick leave – accrued throughout the year.2 days of personal leave per fiscal year. Must be employed on July 1 of the fiscal year to receive.City paid monthly premiums for health and dental insurance – Employee only.City paid monthly life insurance for employee only (1 times annual salary up to $50,000).Optional group term life insurance purchased at employee's expense.Optional vision insurance purchased at employee's expense.Voluntary deferred compensation plan – not matched by the City.Retirement (LAGERS) paid by the City. Missouri LAGERS – A Secure Retirement for All (molagers.org).Total compensation value (Hourly starting rate plus benefits value) for this position is $29.14 hourly.Before final appointment, successful applicant will be required to successfully complete a drug test and background investigation.
