Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a 1st shift Dispatcher in the Traffic department at our Temple, Texas manufacturing plant. This position coordinates the assignment of over the road drivers, trailers and tractors and/or common carriers with the shipping and transportation of products to our external customers to ensure the efficient and expedient delivery in a timely manner using established policies and procedures.
Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operations excellence. As a Dispatcher, you will assign particular loads of product to be delivered in a predetermined timeframe using established policies, procedures/guidelines and Department of Transportation rules and regulations. They will communicate daily with Traffic Manager, shipping clerks, warehouse employees, department managers and external customers. Works in a normal office environment. Major challenge is the coordination of scheduling orders to be delivered on time to meet customer demands.
Skills/Requirements
- Customer service experience in a manufacturing and/or transportation environment.
- Experience coordinating customer deliveries with production areas and transportation department.
- Experience processing complex customer requirements with a high level of accuracy in a fast-paced work environment.
- Adaptability to manage last-minute changes in customer orders and/or production schedules to meet customer demands.
- Excellent telephone and verbal communication skills to communicate regularly with customer, production and transportation areas.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office and computer skills.
- Excellent organization skills.
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Must have knowledge of Department of Transportation regulations.
