Summary
Job purposeThe Visitor Control Specialist controls and documents access to a SECRET-level secure facility, validates visit authorization and need-to-know, manages visitor badges and logs, and ensures compliance with applicable security requirements.
Duties and responsibilities
- Maintain positive control of visitor access to the secure facility, verifying clearances, visit authorizations, and need-to-know prior to granting entry.
- Process and validate visit requests through DISS or other approved systems, coordinating with command security personnel as required.
- Issue, collect, and account for visitor badges, logs, and other accountability records in accordance with established procedures.
- Maintain daily visitor logs and prepare reports as required by command and higher headquarters.
- Enforce access control policies, challenge unauthorized personnel, and immediately report any security incidents or anomalies.
- Coordinate with the Security Manager and Special Security Representative (SSR) to ensure visitor procedures remain compliant with Marine Corps and DoD security directives.
- Provide escort services for uncleared visitors or personnel as required in restricted areas.
- Conduct periodic reviews of visitor control procedures and recommend updates to improve security and efficiency.
- Contractors providing services under this section are required to achieve and maintain Tier 3 (secret) eligibility.
- Ability to process and validate visit requests through DISS or another approved system and to perform access-control duties in a secure federal or military environment.
- Associate's degree or a high school diploma and five (5) years' professional work.
- Two (2) years of experience performing visitor control, physical security, access control, force protection, or administrative security functions in a federal, military, or commercial secure environment.
- Tier 3 Secret eligibility and an active Secret clearance are required; classified access must be maintained.
