With easy access from I-20 and 287, Kennedale is economically prosperous, business-friendly, and conveniently located, providing opportunities to shop, work, and play.The City is seeking a Code Enforcement Officer to promote compliance with city ordinances, codes, and regulations while working directly with residents, businesses, and the community.JOB RESPONSIBILITIESConduct field inspections, re-inspections, and investigations of code compliance complaints.Identify and address violations involving property maintenance, land use, public nuisances, illegal dumping, high grass and weeds, signs, junk vehicles, structures, and other code-related concerns.Work with residents and businesses to explain requirements, recommend corrective actions, establish compliance timelines, and issue notices or citations when necessary.Maintain accurate case files, records, correspondence, reports, and lien documentation.Represent the City in court and at Board of Building Appeals hearings as needed.Stay current on applicable laws, regulations, and code enforcement practices and recommend updates to City codes and ordinances.Maintain Texas Code Enforcement Certification through required continuing education.Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to emergencies when needed.Serve as a backup building inspector for minor inspections involving items such as plumbing, electrical, fences, and pools.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSHigh school diploma or equivalent.Texas Code Enforcement Certification, or the ability to obtain certification within 6–8 months.Valid Texas Class C driver's license.Strong verbal and written communication skills and basic computer and math skills.Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with employees, residents, businesses, and the public.Bilingual language skills are preferred.WORK CONDITIONSThe position works both indoors and outdoors and requires the ability to work in varying weather conditions and around common field hazards.
