This opportunity is available for current Los Angeles County employee who have successfully finished their initial probationary period and meet the qualifying requirements.

DEFINITION:
Leads the work of other Board Specialists performing highly specialized clerical and staff support work or performs highly responsible clerical and staff support services in the Executive Office of the Board of Supervisors.

CLASSIFICATION STANDARDS:
Positions allocable to this class work under the technical and administrative supervision of Head Board Specialist or higher and are responsible for leading the work of Board Specialists or lower-level positions in the provision of highly specialized functions or for performing highly responsible services in support of the Board of Supervisors, Executive Office, Assessment Appeals Boards, various County commissions and client departments. Incumbents work independently in carrying out the most complex and difficult assignments in accordance with established guidelines, conferring with a supervisor only on unusual matters. Incumbents handle a high volume of written correspondence, telephone and in-person contact in response to inquiries by elected officials, County staff, public and the media. They must effectively communicate with people from varying backgrounds, organizational levels and with diverse purposes for seeking assistance from the Executive Officer of the Board. Senior Board Specialists apply a thorough knowledge of departmental rules, policies, procedures, special terminology, and skills in the use of various computer and automation systems associated with the area of assignment. Positions also require the ability to establish and maintain working relationships to lead their work teams or committee members.

REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY:

OPTION I : Three years' office clerical experience, one year of which must have been in a highly specialized clerical, supervisory, or highly responsible secretarial position at the level of* Senior Clerk**, Senior Typist-Clerk***, Supervising Typist Clerk****, or Secretary III*****.

OPTION II : One year's experience as an Intermediate Board Specialist****** in the service of the County of Los Angeles performing highly specialized clerical work.

O PTION III : One year's experience at the level of Administrative Assistant I******* or Staff Assistant I********.

*At the level of: You may still qualify even if your job title isn't exactly the same as the ones listed. What matters is that your experience is at a similar level-meaning your job involves similar responsibilities, requires comparable skills and knowledge, and takes place within a similar organizational structure. LICENSE:A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

PHYSICAL CLASS 2 - Light:
This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10-pound limit and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.

EXAMINATION CONTENT:

This examination will consist of an evaluation of Training and Experience based on application information, Desirable Qualifications, and Supplemental Information Questionnaire form, weighted 100%.

Applicants must meet the Requirements to Qualify and receive a passing score of 70% or higher on the assessment to be added to the eligible list.

Applicants who passed the assessment are placed on a list in the order of their score group for a period of six (6) months. We will use the list to fill vacancies in the Executive Office of the Board of Supervisors as they occur.
