Staff Support Specialist I (Recreation and Parks)
Description
Job SummaryThe purpose of this position is to perform a variety of clerical and general office tasks for the Recreation and Parks Department. This position reports to the Recreation Supervisor at the Jaycee Park Center for Arts & Crafts and also provides support to the Recreation Manager as needed. This is accomplished by answering the telephone and directing calls to the proper person or division; assisting citizens with facility rentals, program registration, and payments; responding to citizen emails and inquiries; and other related work as required.
FLSA Status: Non-ExemptExamples of Duties- Responding to citizen calls, emails, and walk-in requests for service, and directing them to the proper person, division, or program;
- Assisting citizens with securing facility and park rentals and registering for programs;
- Providing facility coverage; greeting and assisting visitors, staffing the front desk, and monitoring facility activity as needed;
- Processing payments for rentals, program fees, and other departmental charges; and running daily closeout reports;
- Monitoring and processing citizen comments and inquiries submitted through WebTrac;
- Running and maintaining various reports on rental activity and other departmental data for Recreation and Parks staff;
- Providing citizens with the proper forms for rentals and registrations, and ensuring accuracy of information on forms and payment records;
- Processing requisitions, purchase orders, contracts, and invoices;
- File management of rental agreements, program records, and other departmental files;
- Assisting the Recreation Supervisor (Jaycee Park Center for Arts & Crafts) and the Recreation Manager with various tasks; and
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience: - High school diploma or GED required;supplemented by training/course work in office systems technology or related field; and
- A minimum of one year of related clerical/administrative experience.

Knowledge of: - administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, excel, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.

Special Requirements- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. (Note: A valid driver's license is a current driver's license that is not revoked, suspended, or subject to limited restoration or conditional operation privileges).
- This position may occasionally work evening meetings.
