As a Senior Classification & Compensation Analyst, you will serve as an advanced journey level technical specialist, supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of Metropolitan’s Classification & Compensation System. You will apply initiative, resourcefulness, and expert analytical skills to complex problems often requiring new methods, criteria, and recommendations. You will conduct various types of classification and compensation studies, including preparing written reports with recommendations, advising managers on matters related to classification and compensation, and providing support related to grievances and labor negotiations from a classification and compensation perspective.
The successful candidate will bring a strong analytical and consultative approach to the role, with the ability to understand organizational and operational needs, translate complex data into meaningful information, and communicate findings and recommendations clearly to managers and other stakeholders. This position requires strong technical aptitude, advanced proficiency with Excel and data analysis, and the ability to independently manage complex assignments and projects from initial fact-finding through final recommendation and implementation.
What You’ll Do
- Conduct comprehensive classification and compensation analyses by reviewing jobs, evaluating organizational structure, identifying proper classifications, benchmarking against market data, and preparing analytical reports with recommendations.
- Perform working out of classification audits by interviewing staff, conducting observations, and evaluating responsibilities to provide recommendations on appropriate classification.
- Plan and execute classification and compensation reviews by facilitating focus groups, updating class specifications, and leading project teams; consult with managers, stakeholders, and employees to evaluate organizational needs and provide formal recommendations.
- Lead complex data collection and salary surveys using advanced tools to uncover critical insights on market competitiveness, pay compression, and internal equity.
- Provide classification and compensation information in support of labor negotiations.

Schedule: 44/36, Monday through Friday /Every other Friday off. Monday through Thursday 9 hours per day, 8 hours per day every other Friday. Start times are no earlier than 6 am and end times are no later than 6 pm.
Hybrid: Metropolitan’s current practice in this position is a hybrid work schedule. This typically includes two days a week in person and the other days remote. This is subject to change dependent on organizational needs. In addition, a telework policy is scheduled for negotiations and once completed and implemented, will provide final direction on the hybrid schedule.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and six years of relevant experience.
Relevant Experience is defined as: Human Resources experience performing classification duties; and writing and presenting recommendations, justifications, or formal reports related to classification updates.
