The City of Salinas is the 33rd largest City in the state with a population of approximately 163,542.  Salinas is in beautiful Monterey County and is the County seat. The City of Salinas is seeking a proactive Chief of Police who has demonstrated success in working with a diverse community while leading a professional law enforcement agency.  The successful candidate will be open-minded, serve as an advocate for the department while balancing the needs of stakeholders, and will understand the importance of technology and data in the decision-making process. The incoming Chief must exemplify professionalism, leadership and integrity, and should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will encourage personal and professional growth, mentor staff, and foster an environment that embraces diversity, equity, trust and respect. 

 

The Chief of Police is an at-will position with an annual salary range of $185,112 to $236,256. Placement within this range is dependent on experience and qualifications.
