The JobThe
Department of Public Health (DPH) is recruiting for a
Public Health Supervising Dietitian* who supervise the operations of the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program, and/or Nutrition and Wellness Services. Program placement is based upon department discretion, and contingent upon organizational/staffing coverage needs. Duties include planning, coordinating, and implementing community nutrition programs; supervising dietitians and other program staff in assigned region; developing contracts or Memorandums of Understanding; assists Program Managers and Coordinators in developing budget and policy and procedure manual; responding to facility/equipment needs and requests; and monitoring site activities to assure efficiency of participants flow.

Women, Infant, and Children Program (WIC). T he list established from this recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies as they occur.

ABOUT NUTRITION & WELLNESS SERVICES The Nutrition and Wellness Services team focuses on preventing nutrition and activity-related chronic diseases through education and the creation of supportive food and active community environments in collaboration with community partners.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT Travel: Incumbents may be required to travel throughout the county to work in multiple offices within a specified region, such as the High Desert (e.g., Victorville, Barstow), Low Desert (e.g., 29 Palms, Yucca Valley), and surrounding San Bernardino areas. Employees may be required to make provision for transportation; mileage reimbursement is available. At the time of hire, a valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced and maintained for the individual providing the transportation.
Pre-Employment Process: Prior to appointment, applicants must pass a background investigation which includes verification of employment history and education, fingerprinting, physical exam, and drug screening.

Telework Program: The County allows for the use of telework to County employees where business needs permit to efficiently serve the community and maintain employee productivity during public health emergencies. Candidates, upon successful completion of a probationary period, may potentially have the option to telework based on their assignment.
Minimum RequirementsApplicants
must possess
both of the following
registration and
experience requirements:
Registration: P ossess and maintain current registration as a Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration
-AND- Experience: Two (2) years of full-time equivalent experience as a Registered Dietitian in a health clinic, hospital, or doctor's office, which involves counseling patients/participants on a variety of nutrition topics. Experience must include one (1) year in a lead or supervisory dietitian role.
Desired QualificationsThe ideal candidate will possess one (1) year or more of full-time equivalent experience performing duties as a Registered Dietitian in a Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) setting.
Applicants fluent in American Sign Language, Arabic, Korean, Mandarin, Spanish and/or Vietnamese are strongly encouraged to apply. Additional compensation is associated with positions requiring the use of bilingual skills. Testing of bilingual skills may be required to receive additional compensation.
